Hi Munchworms!
After ARC August and Sequel September, I’ve been racking my brain to find something similar to do in October.
I literally refused to do an ARCtober – I know, it sounds good – because I really wanted to tackle my own books for once. And then, then I made the perfect decision of asking one of my lovely fellow bloggers for her opinion. Thanks to Alex, over at Coffeeloving Bookoholic, I’m doing OWNtober!
Huge thank you to her for giving me the name for this month’s challenge!
Even more so, I’m also going with Remember November, for which you’ll find a general post soon enough – so don’t worry about that.
Anyway, the goal of this month’s challenge? Read as many books as you can of those physical TBR-piles!
Rules
◊ Post a blogpost saying you’ll be joining me in my battle against the ever-growing physical TBR-piles and pingback to this post.
◊ Share your list of all the books you own and then decide which ones you’re going to read first.
If you can’t figure out a sequence for yourself, you can always start a poll and let others help you out!
◊ If you’re sharing your updates on social media, use #OWNtober so we can follow up on each other!
I’ll have a post coming with my actual October TBR at the end of September, so keep an eye out for it if you want to find out how out of control my TBR-pile is, haha.
I might even shame myself and just post a picture of all my owned TBR’s… Or I’ll just do that and than go all mood reader-mode in October?!
Are you ready to join in? Are you?
Let’s do this!
Kathy
I’ve been Owntobering every month for the past several years and somehow the pile doesn’t seem to get any smaller. It’s magic.

It’s a brilliant and frustrating kind of magic at the same time, haha. I’m getting it “under control” – as far as that’s even possible – but I’m sure that Christmas will pretty much undo all my work..

Love this idea but cannot participate right now. Too many review commitments and a blog tour this month. Maybe later?

I also have some review commitments, but I’m going to switch between those and my own books. I don’t want to go into November with a huge pile of eARC’s to read – even though November will be dedicated to catching up on my reading goals.
Happy reading! 🙂

I love this idea! I’ve already made my TBR for the month, but I’ve been thinking about doing a month like this myself. I definitely need to whittle down my physical TBR!

I have set up some future monthly challenges as well, haha. It’s just easier to get through some of my own books that way. Plus, it’s even more fun if people join in. 😀

Makes sense! I totally agree. 🙂

This is a good idea I might join but I might do ARCtober I’m not sure yet!

Haha maybe I’ll do that

Yay! You can always tag me there with @booksandmunches so I can see your TBR 😀

This is a fantastic Idea! I will definitely be joining, my physical TBR is out of control. I have over 300 unread books. I do have a lot of ARC’s and Library books to read, but this will be just the motivation I need to finally read some Of the books on my Physical TBR!

Yay! Glad you’re joining! I also have some ARC’s lined up and will probably read them in between, haha. The main focus is going to be on the books I own, though! I don’t have as many as you, but still want to get that pile decreased. 😀

I will probably read the ARC’s in between as well, but I’m really excited to be able to read the books I own and decrease my TBR. So I’ll probably try to read through some of the books I’ve had the longest, Some of them I’ve had for years.

Same here. Though my books are more because I’ve been having a non-stop book buying spree that really needs to end.. [I keep saying that but don’t really do it, haha.]
Joining some smaller read-a-thons as well to help me read more during October. I’m already curious to see whether or not I’ll end up reading more than usual, haha.

This is such a great idea! My physical tbr pile is waaay too big, so I might join you in OWNtober 🙂

Ooooh, I love this! If half of my October TBR wasn’t ARCs, I would totally participate!

You can still participate as an extra motivation to get your own TBR’s read? I’m also going to read some ARC’s in between, but still trying to demolish my own TBR as well!

Oooh, in that case, I totally will! I’m going to bookmark this so I remember! I double checked and out of my TBR (which is 25 books), I think only 7 are ARCs and the rest will be coming from my “owned TBR” shelf, so that works, right? 🙂

Of course that works, haha! Even if it was just one; it would still work! – Since sometimes it’s a challenge to read something else than ARC’s as well, haha. 😀

This sounds so perfect! I’m in! I’ll write up a post tonight! There are books I want to buy but keep holding off on because of my TBR so this is the perfect excuse to keep holding off! 😁

I love this idea and I am so up for joining….but can’t till Remember November as I am in arc hell in October (I secretly love it though!)
Actually with the amount of books I have on my tbr I need to join a December one too!!! 😁

Haha, I’m going to try and squeeze in ARC’s in between when I feel like it, but I definitely don’t want to dedicate another month to ARC’s. [Read: I don’t want to get my ARC-list out of control like it was before ARC August, haha.]
I’m still thinking about a December one! *begs inspiration to come and help me*

This is a lovely idea! I will make an attempt to read as many books I own already as I can, but there is no way I can actually give a list of all the books I currently own as that list would be over 2000 books long. But I am participating in two 24 Hour Readathons in October so I feel pretty good about being able to finish a large number of books.

Haha, I have about 130 unread books that I own. I think I’m just going to post a picture of all of them and go mood reader for the full month. Sounds like an awesome way to recharge my reading battery and just read what I feel like reading.
I still have to check out other readathons to maybe join! I already have a weekend that I can read all weekend long, so that’ll be fun and probably boost my number of books read as well.

Reading weekends are the best. Most of my weekends now are filled with D&D.

Just found out about the Get Graphicthon; signing up for that one! I’ve never read any manga in my life, but I do have the Death Note box and the two first installments of Fairy Tail so I’m planning on tackling those during that weekend.

Oooh…enjoy both of those. I haven’t read them but I have watched some.

This sounds awesome but unfortunately I can’t participate. ☹My October theme is to read spooky books and I own only two of those so the rest of my reads will be from the library. I’m very curious about Remember November – it sounds so cool and for some reason I feel like it will have something to do with rereads?

Aw, that’s too bad!
Haha, it doesn’t have anything to do with rereads. I already put a general page up for it, but will publish the actual post a bit later on – still have to create a banner that doesn’t look completely.. plain.. :’)
Remember November will be about all the challenges and goals you set yourself throughout the year!
