Hi Munchworms!
This week’s topic for The Broke and the Bookish‘s Top Ten Tuesday is “Ten Books that feature characters…” which is kind of a freebie.
I figured I’d take something that has an immediate connection to my blog and, as such, decided to go with books that have something to do with munches!
Since it wasn’t that easy – and I really only wanted to pick books that I’ve read myself at some point – I didn’t find ten, but I do have some different categories!
As usual, every picture is the link to Goodreads so you can read the blurbs and add them to your TBR if you like!
Main characters love cooking / eating!
Plus-sized characters
Okay, okay. I haven’t read Diary of a Fat Girl yet, but I remember seeing in on a blog a while back – brain torture because I don’t remember where exactly! – and immediately added it to my TBR on Goodreads. Definitely planning on reading it one day!
So, what’s your TTT about today?
Oh, and guys, don’t forget to check out OWNtober!
Even if you’re only challenging yourself to read a couple of books instead of dedicating the whole month to it.
Kathy
I love your twist on today’s topic! I adore books about cooking and eating, although they always make me hungry. Actually, I just read SLIDER by Pete Hautman and it made me want to throw up. It’s about competitive eating … Anyway, great topic/list.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Thank you!
That really doesn’t sound like something I’d want to read, haha. I’d rather enjoy my food than make a sport out of it.

Make sure to read Heartless by Marissa Meyer. It is so good and it leaves you with a serious sweet tooth! 🙂

As a plus-sized girl who loves to cook (and eat), I love your choice of topics! Eleanor & Park has been on my TBR for a while now.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday Post. Thank you!

Well this one stretches the topic a bit, but since there was a media tie-in series based on the show, I would say that Piper from Charmed definitely qualifies as a character that loves to cook.

I only now realize that I could’ve put The Raven Cycle here as well, with all their weird teas.. Darn, haha!

Ooh…yeah, The Raven Boys would fit the prompt too.

I do read a lot of books where characters love to cook! Great topic. Now, I have to go eat something!

Great topic! As a plus-size girl myself, it’s been really satisfying seeing more and more of us appearing in main roles in fiction. I highly recommend Becky Albertalli’s The Upside of Unrequited if you haven’t read it already. =)

I totally forgot to put that one on my TBR a while back! Thanks for reminding me, haha! I haven’t read it; but it’s definitely one that I’d like to read. 😀
And it’s indeed satisfying to see it occur more and more. Even though I’m not “labeled” as a plus-sized girl anymore; in my head I’ll always be one. I love reading books and stories that make me go “yup, been there, done that.”

i just read “eleanor & park” from this list. the only two other books, that i think could be on this list, are “to all the boys i’ve loved before” by jenny han (because lara jean loved to bake cookies) and “holding up the universe” by jennifer niven which is about a plus size character.
my ttt is about characters that made me cry 😀

I’ve heard so much about Jenny Han’s books but.. Let’s be honest; I need to tackle my own books first, haha.
I’m going to check it out as soon as I get through my notifications! MY INTERNET IS BACK HALLELUJAH. [So I’m currently torn between blog-stuff and drooling over Damon in The Vampire Diaries.. Oops.]

It’s.. Damon.. YES HE DOES. But, god damn it I’ve been frustrated over the internet all day so now I’m catching up on my whole day? Or something like that. xD

Yuuup! My mom always hoped it would be just in movies, series and books.. Then my boyfriend came along and she literally said “Well, shit. I guess we’re screwed now.” and then to him “I’m going to take a guess and say you’ll be around for a while.”
We both literally couldn’t hold our laughter – and maybe I got a little bit embarassed as well, haha.
