Hi Munchworms!
I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t take on an extra read-a-thon apart from Diverse December, so here we are! Signing up for the Holiday Adventure-a-thon!
This read-a-thon starts December 13th and ends December 24th, which is perfect since I don’t have to work starting December 15th until the 27th!
THE MAP AND HOW TO PLAY
» Begin at the bottom.
» As you follow the path you will come across sign posts, these sign posts will give you your challenge instructions.
» Sometimes the signposts will simply give you your prompt. Other times you will have to choose between two different prompts.
» If you have to choose between two prompts, you will then follow the path in the direction of your chosen prompt.
» At no point should you ever be moving DOWN the map. You should always be moving from the bottom to the top.
» Continue up the map until you reach the end of the path.
» To save space, the signposts only have the theme word of the prompt written. The full prompts can be found in the table below.
» At the end of the path your character will be waiting for you! There are four characters in total.
THE PATH I’M TAKING
Now comes the real challenge. Fitting everything so it matches out with my diverse books! Secretly I do think this is the fun part.
Presents: Read a book that you got as a gift
Santa: Read a book with red on the cover
Wish: Read a fairy tale retelling
Cookies: Read a book while eating a festive food
Freebie!
Nice: Read a book that a friend or family member recommended to you
Jingle Bells: Read a book with the word ‘silver’ in the title
My only non-diverse read, haha!
Penguin: Read a contemporary book
This means I’ll be on team penguin, yay!

This is awesome! I’m definitely joining in if I can catch up on reviews and finish Crooked Kingdom.

I’m perfectly on schedule with my reviews – which is a miracle?!

I just started blogging and I never realized how much work it really is!

Awww! This is super cool and very unique. Though, I don’t know how you’re going to manage all the reading challenges you just signed up for. I don’t even think I’d have time for one. Hahaha! Best of luck! 😀

Haha, thank you! Doing multiple challenges involves a LOT of planning! With the Yule Bingo I’m just seeing where I can fit in the books I read, not necessarily trying to get a bingo there.
As for the others.. Just trying to fit in as many books that fit the prompt and are diverse as well so it’s a case of two birds [or three?], one stone. 😀

Haha! That’s a good idea. The one time I tried I picked two genre-based reading challenges so they NEVER overlapped. I’m not very good at this. :p

Oh, I really try to avoid doing things like that, haha. It’s already hard enough just trying to keep my reads diverse since I often spoil myself before reading the book – how else am I supposed to know I’m reading something diverse, right?! :p

Well this sounds fun. Good luck with your reading, Kathy!

Thanks! 😀
*This challenge is also why the 24 hour readathon would’ve been better in a later weekend, haha.*

I was initially going to join this readathon but I decided for this month I didn’t want the added pressure of doing readathons.

In any case you should never feel pressured because of readathons! Those are supposed to be for fun and just give you an extra excuse to read. 🙂

I don’t feel pressured that was probably the wrong word to use lol I just mean that when I do readathons I am always pushing myself to read as much as I can and complete the readathons and this month I just wanted it to be a laid back reading month if that makes any sense at all.

I get what you mean! I’m glad I’m not really bothered by that. Like today, I do feel like I should read a little bit but I’m just constantly busy with commenting, prepping posts, visiting the blogs I follow and now I’m going to work some more on my bullet journal. Reading probably won’t be on the schedule today, haha. In a way it sucks because I don’t like not updating my pagenumber on Goodreads but on the other hand.. so be it! Reading should still be for fun, not because you want to complete readathons like crazy. 🙂

Yeah I usually read at night about an hour or two before bed and then work on everything else during the day. I have a lot of time on my hands staying at home all the time so I’ve figured out how to work a little bit of everything into my day. Although that’s not always the case because I just get lazy sometimes lol.

Haha, I used to have some extra time at work to do blog-related things but that’s been changing lately with all the end of the year-deadlines coming up and stuff.
I’m going to enjoy my week off sooo much! I’ll probably be reading all the time, just because I can, haha.

Yeah I know when I used to work I always looked forward to the times I had off. I hope you enjoy your time off and get lots of reading done!!

Thank you! I think that’ll work out fine. My bf is getting an xbox for his birthday/christmas from my mom and brother, so he’ll definitely want to stay inside and game all the time, haha.

Haha, I’ll have to be smart about that one. If I like it too much – which I probably will since.. all I see when I hear about that book is MULTIPLE LONDONS and I’m addicted to London? – I’ll want to read the next installments, haha.

oh yeah, you definitely will. so be prepared for that hahaha 😀

How orginal, one of the coolest read-a-thons I’ve heard about! I really want to know what you think of The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue… I’ve seen it often enough but still don’t know (or can’t remember now) what it’s about :-)! Happy reading and good luck with the challenge!

I know, right?! I couldn’t not join this one, haha.
I remember it’s narrated by a male character – which is pretty rare, at least in the books I read? – it’s diverse aaand the MC goes on a road trip? If I remember correctly that is. Which is like ‘tick, tick, tick!’ for me. It’ll probably be the first book I grab once this readathon starts, haha.
Thank you!!

Omg, this is a great idea! What a fun read-a-thon and a great way to squeeze as many diverse books as possible! As you know I am not a fast-reader but it might be good to give this one a try anyway!!

I know right?! I had to mix and match a bit to find a path that worked for my diverse books but I found it, haha.
Ooh, I hope you join!
