TTT: Favorites of 2017

Hi Munchworms!

This week’s topic for The Broke and the Bookish‘s Top Ten Tuesday is “Top Ten Favorite Books of 2017.”

Now there’s something that we probably all think about a lot, or have thought about these last couple of weeks. With wrapping up a year, it’s wrapping up our reading goals, evaluating them, setting new goals and… look back on the amazing books we read with awe. And maybe sigh a bit when we think of that one very disappointing book.

Let’s start with the books that emotionally struck me, hard. I might have cried, I might have been shocked. Either way, I ended up feeling different when closing the book and that’s something that means a lot to me.

They Both Die at the EndMilk and HoneyThe Hate U GiveFuriously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things

Then we have the new authors I discovered, although most of them have been around for a while. It had been years since I fell in love with books like that, but these books are easily at the top of my list! And they’re all fantasy, ha!

Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)Daughter of the Pirate King (Daughter of the Pirate King, #1)Warcross (Warcross, #1)A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2)

And for the completely new authors, the more unknown authors and the authors definitely worth checking out!

Seeking MansfieldThe Duality of Nature (The Monster of Selkirk #1)If I Die Before I Wake

Any books on here that made your top ten as well?

    1. YASSS!!! I had done a tag recently and one question was “if I could fight a female character who would it be?” I answered Alosa because it would be so incredibly fun to fight her. I think someone thought I didn’t like her, lol.

  1. Ohhh what a great list of books, Kathy! I am so happy to see THUG on here, it’s a book that will stay with me as well, what an important story and an amazing cast of characters ❤ I haven't read They Both Die At The End, but I'm eager to -even if I know I'll probably need tons of tissues to get through this, right? haha.
SO happy to see Warcross as well, I loved that one so much! I also read The Young Elites and Legend by Marie Lu, both were really good 🙂

    1. Thank you!!
THUG definitely deserves a place on this TTT, without a doubt. Same for Warcross. I have yet to read more of Marie Lu’s work but I know that I’ll end up reading everything she’s written, eventually, haha.
Yuuuup. I’d say you definitely have to put some tissues close to you if you’re going to read They Both Die at the End!

    2. Yay! I can’t wait for you to read more of Marie Lu’s books. I haven’t read everything just yet, but somehow I know she’ll be one of my favorites. ❤

  2. I’ve heard so many good things about THE HATE YOU GIVE and MILK AND HONEY. Hopefully I get to them both next year. My TBR list just seems to get bigger and bigger 🙂

  3. THUG is for sure on my list. I’m also planning on picking up Furiously Happy eventually since I’ve heard a lot of positive things about it. 😀

  4. Back in July I posted my top 10 books from Jan-June 2017, and soon I’ll post my top 10 books from July-Dec. Considering that I’ve already read 140 books this year, trying to narrow down to just 10 for the whole year seems unrealistic. I’ve read some pretty great books.

    1. I know, right! It’s why I tried to divide it into categories a bit. Made it a little bit easier but.. still.. not really, haha.
We should just be proud that we’re struggling to narrow it down instead of struggling to find ten!

    1. Definitely recommend Furiously Happy! I rarely come in contact with any kind of mental illnesses and this book enlightened a lot for me – the good and the bad. It had me laughing and tearing up at the same time so it’s definitely worth a read. 🙂

  5. I *just* finished “Warcross” (this morning) and REALLY liked it. Surprised me that I did, but I’m glad it turned out to be as entertaining as it was – plus, it was fun to finally read a novel by Marie Lu. 🙂

    1. Yaay! I hadn’t read anything by her either until Warcross. I’ve promised myself to get my hands on her other books as well. I’m intrigued by her writing and I want moooore, haha.
Can’t wait for the sequel of Warcross though!
