  1. I have the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy on my TBR for forever. I managed to listen to the audiobook last year but haven’t continued with the series yet. I‘ve seen all the movies and am sure I will love the books equally, but somehow, I can’t get myself to read them!
I read the Book Thief, in my opinion one of the best books ever, so I can really recommend you to read this ☺️

    1. I’ve head The Hobbit for some time now and I’ve always been meaning to read it and the LOTR-books but I never got around to is – even though I DID check them out at the library like.. four times? I think? Years ago, though, haha.
Sooo many people are telling me to read this since they know I haven’t! I really should!

    2. I‘ve never seen the movie nor read the book for The Hobbit, is it any good?
Hopefully we both get around to reading LOTR soon 😂
That’s probably because The Book Thief is really really amazing 😍😂

    3. I really enjoyed the movies! I keep meaning to rewatch them but they’re so.. long.. Haha. Ever since I really started reading again, it seems I can’t focus on movies long enough anymore? I just want to pick up a book and read with the movie playing in the background.. Oops.

Hahaha. So people say! I really do hope I’ll love it as much as everybody does. Otherwise I’ll feel like the odd one out and.. I really don’t want people on my case when I don’t like a book everybody seems to love?! [Okay, no. I wouldn’t mind because it gives some awesome discussion-topics but still.. I want to love it too!]

    4. Maybe I should watch the movies too, can’t be bothered at the moment but many people say they are great.

hahah yeeees, unpopular opinions are always for fantastic discussions. I don’t mind though, opinions are different and I‘ve had that with quite a few books that EVERYONE seemed to love and I didn’t think deserved that hype. The Book Thief is a really touching historical fiction, with lyrical, beautiful writing. It is awesome because it is narrated by death. So if that sounds good to you, you‘ll probably like it just like the rest of us did 😂

    5. They definitely are! Hope you enjoy them as well once you have the time to watch them. 🙂

Every time I read “narrated by death” I’m like THAT HAS TO BE AN AWESOME BOOK. Soo.. I guess the future’s looking bright when it comes to The Book Thief? Haha! 😛

    1. Divergent.. Now THAT has been a long, long while since I read them.. Maybe a reread for.. next year.. Or something..
Haha, I so understand that struggle! It’s always more tempting to pick up the new shiny ones than the older.. ones.. that have collected some dust by now.. :’)

  2. THE GOLDEN COMPASS! Okay, I have found what I will bother you with for the rest of times, well, at least until you read it. It’s one of my favorite book of all times and favorite series of all times, it’s a brilliant series, the world-building is absolutely stunning and so are the characters. I CAN’T WAIT FOR YOU TO READ IT. ❤

  3. The Time Traveller’s Wife and LotR I have been on my tbr-pile for ages… I even started reading them, but I put them back, because it just didn’t feel right to read them at that particular moment. :/ I already read the Golden Compass and the book thief. One book that has been on my tbr-pile for years is House of Leaves by Danielewsko, but I don’t know if I’ll ever find the time to actually read this one because it is so huge.

    1. I had that with Interview with a Vampire and Dracula! I really want to read those books at some point too but.. At the time I just felt like I was struggling to read more than two pages in one go and that’s just wrong.. :/

Looked it up and a lot of my Goodreads-friends start their reviews saying it’s way too creepy, haha. So I’m going to take that as “it’s not my thing since I’m a real pussy and value my sleep” :’) I already plan on losing some sleep by reading King’s books. 😛

    2. Yes, my friends said the same about the house of leaves which is supposed to be really creepy, but I got bored by the first 50, so I’ll try again next Halloween or so. 😀 Good luck with the King books.

  4. Oh, I saw some books on this list on someone else’s list! The Golden Compass is good 🙂 nice and all adventury XD LOTR is so slow and heavy and you read and ready and it does not move… oh gosh but it is nice XD

  5. You definitely need to read The Book Thief!! As for Shiver, I read the trilogy and even though I flew through it, my god it was cringy at times. No way near her best work! I totally understand LOTR being on this list! I still haven’t finished the series and the first book took me forever, the second I listened to on audiobook and I don’t think I really took any of it in! I just found it so hard to follow along with! But I absolutely love the movies!! The Hobbit was easier to read but honestly, it was a tad boring, compared to everything that goes on in the movie!!
Angel & Demons has been on my TBR for ages! I really enjoyed the movie and have wanted to read the book ever since! But just never picked it up!!!

  6. I think The Book Thief has been on my tbr since forever 😂!! I’m just…intimidated ok. It’s huge and kinda slow and I’m never in the mood for it. Glad there’s someone else in the bookish community that hasn’t read it yet so I’m not alone ❤!

    1. Haha! I know it’s huge; didn’t know about the slow-part. When I’m in the mood for a slow book – which sometimes happens, weirdly enough?! – I’ll have to think about picking up that one.
When it comes to huge books, Stephen King’s IT is way more intimidating though.. and scary.. Ugh..

      You’re definitely not alone!

  7. Oh my god, you NEED to read Lord Of The Rings and The Book Thief- they’re amongst my fave books of all time! But haha, I sure get what you mean, it’s so bloody difficult to cut down from your TBR- I have five shelves of books I want to read- and that’s only the books I own!!! Honestly, it’s a mess.

  8. Despite like The Raven Cycle I have no interest in Shiver. I’ve heard it isn’t the greatest. The Book Thief however is. 😉 My husband really liked the movie The Green Mile but has never read the book. Maybe someday I’ll pick that up for him.

    1. I liked The Raven Cycle but I’m not raving about it like so many others are and it’s made me curious about the why. Since I have the Shiver-series already – for ages now – I really do want to read them and maybe find out if it’s simply Stiefvater’s writing that isn’t my cup of tea.
Really do want to read The Book Thief at some point! Hopefully this year.
I loooved the movie; it’s mainly why I really want to read the book, haha. The Green Mile makes me cry every time so I’m curious to see whether the book will make me do so as well. 😛

  9. Ahhh Lord of the Rings!! It’s one of my favorite series ever!! ❤

I've also been meaning to read The Time Traveler's Wife for AGES but just haven't gotten around to it. People seem to either love it or hate it!

    1. Lord of the Rings is simply one of those “Saw the movies, never read the books and.. that feels like a betrayal”-kind of thing, haha!

I know! I’m only recently exploring scifi so time-traveling definitely sounds interesting right now, haha.

  10. Did you read the Raven King saga and if so did you like it?? I remember listening to Shiver on Audiobook ages ago but I don’t remember anything about it really except it was about a wolf. I ended up giving up and haven’t really ever gotten into Maggie Stiefvater.

    1. I have! I liked it, but I’m not raving about it like so many others are? I enjoyed those books well enough but I simply don’t understand what the never-ending hype is about. Friends of mine made me promise to reread them in the future “since I’ll definitely fall in love with them the second time around!” but we’ll see about that..
I do think she has a very unique way of writing though. It’s why I want to read the Shiver-series. I’ve owned them for ages now and it seems like a good enough way to see whether it’s simply her writing that causes me to “just like” her books instead of love them.

    2. Yeah’ I always hear so many people talking about how it’s the series to die for. I think I tried reading it and didn’t like the writing so I stopped but maybe I’ll give it another try. I don’t remember anything particularly memorable about the Shiver series, but it’s also been more than five years since I read them.

    3. Giving it another try can never hurt; maybe you’ve changed your mind this time around and if not.. Well, then you know it simply isn’t your thing. 🙂
I have a vague memory of maybe reading Shiver but never the sequels but I’m not sure, haha. That alone is plenty of reason for me to pick them up. 🙂
