TTT: Books forever on my TBR

Hi Munchworms!

This week’s topic for That Artsy Reader Girl‘s Top Ten Tuesday is:
“Books That Have Been On My TBR the Longest and I Still Haven’t Read”

So here’s a list of shame with the books on my TBR that I have yet to read…

The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, #1)The Time Traveler's WifeThe Fellowship of the Ring (The Lord of the Rings, #1)The Green Mile
The Book ThiefShiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1)Angels & Demons (Robert Langdon, #1)

I do really plan on reading them though!
What are some books you’ve wanted to read forever but still haven’t picked up? Do we have any in common?!

  1. I think The Book Thief has been on my tbr since forever 😂!! I’m just…intimidated ok. It’s huge and kinda slow and I’m never in the mood for it. Glad there’s someone else in the bookish community that hasn’t read it yet so I’m not alone ❤!

    1. Haha! I know it’s huge; didn’t know about the slow-part. When I’m in the mood for a slow book – which sometimes happens, weirdly enough?! – I’ll have to think about picking up that one.
When it comes to huge books, Stephen King’s IT is way more intimidating though.. and scary.. Ugh..

      You’re definitely not alone!

  2. Oh my god, you NEED to read Lord Of The Rings and The Book Thief- they’re amongst my fave books of all time! But haha, I sure get what you mean, it’s so bloody difficult to cut down from your TBR- I have five shelves of books I want to read- and that’s only the books I own!!! Honestly, it’s a mess.

  3. Despite like The Raven Cycle I have no interest in Shiver. I’ve heard it isn’t the greatest. The Book Thief however is. 😉 My husband really liked the movie The Green Mile but has never read the book. Maybe someday I’ll pick that up for him.

    1. I liked The Raven Cycle but I’m not raving about it like so many others are and it’s made me curious about the why. Since I have the Shiver-series already – for ages now – I really do want to read them and maybe find out if it’s simply Stiefvater’s writing that isn’t my cup of tea.
Really do want to read The Book Thief at some point! Hopefully this year.
I loooved the movie; it’s mainly why I really want to read the book, haha. The Green Mile makes me cry every time so I’m curious to see whether the book will make me do so as well. 😛

  4. Ahhh Lord of the Rings!! It’s one of my favorite series ever!! ❤

I've also been meaning to read The Time Traveler's Wife for AGES but just haven't gotten around to it. People seem to either love it or hate it!

    1. Lord of the Rings is simply one of those “Saw the movies, never read the books and.. that feels like a betrayal”-kind of thing, haha!

I know! I’m only recently exploring scifi so time-traveling definitely sounds interesting right now, haha.

  5. Did you read the Raven King saga and if so did you like it?? I remember listening to Shiver on Audiobook ages ago but I don’t remember anything about it really except it was about a wolf. I ended up giving up and haven’t really ever gotten into Maggie Stiefvater.

    1. I have! I liked it, but I’m not raving about it like so many others are? I enjoyed those books well enough but I simply don’t understand what the never-ending hype is about. Friends of mine made me promise to reread them in the future “since I’ll definitely fall in love with them the second time around!” but we’ll see about that..
I do think she has a very unique way of writing though. It’s why I want to read the Shiver-series. I’ve owned them for ages now and it seems like a good enough way to see whether it’s simply her writing that causes me to “just like” her books instead of love them.

    2. Yeah’ I always hear so many people talking about how it’s the series to die for. I think I tried reading it and didn’t like the writing so I stopped but maybe I’ll give it another try. I don’t remember anything particularly memorable about the Shiver series, but it’s also been more than five years since I read them.

    3. Giving it another try can never hurt; maybe you’ve changed your mind this time around and if not.. Well, then you know it simply isn’t your thing. 🙂
I have a vague memory of maybe reading Shiver but never the sequels but I’m not sure, haha. That alone is plenty of reason for me to pick them up. 🙂
