Wrap-up & Book Haul: ApTHRILL / April

It’s been one hell of a month with a lot of changes, a lot of good news and… well, a lot of fun! My boyfriend has yet to become a godfather [why does that always sound creepy?] but it’s close now, I became a mod over at the Life & Lit Facebook group, I worked my first month as a permanent member of my team instead of a temporary one and… overall I’m just happy to get my life back on track!

As for my reading… Let’s just say ApTHRILL wasn’t really that much of a success… Right now, reading simply isn’t much of a success but that’s more because I’ve been focused on my blog makeover!

Clicking the book cover will take you to its Goodreads-page!

I have to admit, I’m kind of proud when it comes to my relatively small book haul!

What’s the best book you read in April? The worst? Do you also have trouble committing a certain genre all month?

  1. The best book I read in April was A Clockwork Orange. None of the books were bad, but the most disappointing book to me was Golden Son by Pierce Brown (controversial, I know!) – it was not a bad book by any means, but just not for me. I ‘only’ read 7 books. I don’t think I have ever read 19 books in one month! Go you!

    1. I remember having to read A Clockwork Orange for school years ago.. I’ve never picked it up again since. Maybe I should do that one day. 🙂
I haven’t read anything by Pierce Brown yet, although people keep telling me I should..
Thank you! 7 books is not “only” 7 though; it’s still a lot! 🙂

    2. I am not sure I would have enjoyed it in school… Sometimes I think books are better when you get to an age that you understand them better. Definitely the case with this one, but it was the same for me with Pride and Prejudice.

    3. I don’t think I enjoyed it, to be honest. Otherwise I’d have had the urge to pick it up a second time way sooner.
But that’s definitely true. Some of the books we had to read back then were way above our age, let alone our interests. At least in my case they were.

    1. I love switching between genres but.. Yeah, wanting to focus on a different genre than my “regular” ones, obviously is NOT working, haha.
Ooh, I’m looking forward to reading that one! Hoping to get to it in May. 😀

  2. 19 books?!!?!?! That’s some pretty productive reading!

My fave of April, so far (there’s like one day left….I can try to squeeze more out of April to make me seem productive…..maybe), has to be Illuminae and Gemina… currently reading Obsidio… as always AIDAN is being an adorable bean. He’s my fave. If they just give him control of all the nuclear missiles, aaaaaallll will be fine.
He could fix all the problems in 5 seconds flat and be all, “Oops, I slipped up. now there’s space fires everywhere. Hahahah. Sorry not sorry folks!”

    Happy Reading!

    1. Right?! I was amazed myself, but on the other hand, there were some shorter books in the mix as well so that helps “numbers”. 😛

Hahaha; YES. ❤ AIDAN is my baby. Like, I love how we actually start caring about an AI like it's a genuine person. He simply is!
Hope you end up loving Obsidio! It gave me the WORST book hangover I ever had.. 😛

      You too!

  3. 19!!!! Nice!
I think my #ApTHRILL was ok! Some books i picked for it sucked, but i read other thrillers outside the list.

Good to hear on the job thing!

And your bf can now make offers people can’t refuse… 😂

  4. Looks like a good month 🙂 I’m impressed you can even commit to one genre at all (even if not completely for the whole month). I’m /such/ a mood reader that anyone who reads with a list/according to a genre/theme/type/whatever impresses me 😛
