We’ve had fantasy, we’ve had thriller and horror. So for the next monthly challenge..
I’d say it’s time to add in some science fiction in the mix. Let me introduce you to Scifi July!
Honestly, a year ago I never would’ve thought I’d create a challenge related to science fiction – simply because I didn’t like science fiction. That is, until I discovered I simply dislike science fiction movies. Yes, there’s a difference! Anyway; let’s get on with it!
Rules
◊ Post a blogpost saying you’ll be joining me in reading as many sci-fi books as you can or own!
◊ Share your list of science fiction novels and show us which ones you’re going to try and read.
◊ If you’re sharing your updates on social media, use #ScifiJulyBM so we can follow up on each other!
Important
It isn’t necessary to dedicate the whole month to my monthly challenges.
Our TBR’s are all through the roof so it can already be a challenge to read only one or two books that fit this month’s challenge. You can still join then! The more the merrier!
Remember, it doesn’t matter how much you read. As long as you have fun reading.
And as long as we can tackle our TBR’s, bit by bit.
Hello! Great post as always I’ve nominated you for the Mystery Blogger Award ( https://enchantedbybookssite.wordpress.com/2018/07/31/mystery-blogger-award/)

I wouldn’t have said I was a sci-fi book fan either, but I have been finding more here and there that I DO enjoy. So now I say it’s not my most favorite, but I do like certain books in the genre. I really want to re-read Illuminae and Gemina and then finally read the third book, so I might do that next month if I can.

I’ve been buying a lot of cheesy science fiction lately, so this is the perfect time to read them.

Not gonna lie – sci-fi isn’t usually my first genre of choice, so I’m super interested to read your reviews!

Hahah, it isn’t mine either so that’s going to make for some interesting reviews for sure! 😀

I’m so tempted, but I don’t read a huge amount of sci-fi and I think I only have three or four on my TBR right now.

You can join even if you only set the goal of reading one for the month! Honestly, I’ll be doing that myself because I’m so behind on my YALC tbr, haha.

I might actually be able to participate in this challenge I just need to check and see if I have any sci-fi books on my TBR.

Ooh, fingers crossed! I have way more scifi on my TBR than I thought I had, haha.

I don’t read a lot of Sci-fi but I have the Illuminae Files trilogy so I think I’m going to try and finally read that.

Oh, hope you enjoy! The boyfriend started Illuminae last weekend and he’s almost through it. Pretty sure he’s enjoying it way more than he expected hah.

I started it a few months ago but wasn’t in the mood for it I guess so I didn’t get very far into it. Hopefully I will finally get it read. I’m glad he’s enjoying it.

Oooh. Sci-fi is the genre I read most often after fantasy, so I might participate in this one. I just need to force myself to push the fantasy in the background for a month 😀

Ooh, awesome!
And you don’t need to push back fantasy; my challenges don’t require people to read only books for the challenge so you’re good with even one scifi book! 😀

Yeah, I know that, but if I want to do a challenge then I’ll focus on doing as many as I can, and not just one 😀 I won’t /only/ read sci-fi books anyway because I have ARCs and two other challenges, but still.

Haha, I was like that myself at first but then I realized it took some of the fun out of it for me. Reading one genre for an entire month can be tiring! And when it comes to contemporary, it starts to feel pretty repetitive too..
On that note, my September-challenge might be a fun one since it’s all about sequels so genres don’t matter! Perfect for people struggling with the sequel-sickness. Such as me. Haha.

I don’t read sci-fi a lot, but I do enjoy it. If you want an awesomely diverse sci-fi, I definitely recommend reading The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers.

I honestly don’t really read a lot of sci-fi myself. I think the Space-sub even less than other sci-fi to be honest, but that one does sound intriguing!

I’m reading the second book right now, and it is pretty interesting so far as well. Oh, and for this series, I absolutely say that the UK covers are far superior to the US ones, so I’ve bought these books from Book Depository instead of Barnes & Noble.
And I don’t know if I’ll be joining in for this Sci-Fi July, yet. I need to look at the books I own/want to read, and see if any of them are sci-fi and begging to be read.
