TTT: FAVORITE MAGICAL CREATURES

Top Ten Tuesday

Last week, I shared some scary and dark books. This week, I’m going to talk about some of my favorite magical creatures and the books they feature in. They’re not necessarily dark or halloween-ish, but they definitely have the capability to be! It all depends on the author, I’d say, ha.

Today’s topic is supposed to be “Longest Books I’ve Ever Read” but since I purposely did that one back in September, I’m going with “Favorite Magical Creatures”

Twilight (Twilight, #1)ManeaterShiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1)

Those of you who know these books, will know immediately what creature I’m hinting at. Werewolves, of course! I’ve always loved stories about these creatures, all the different rules authors come up with. Whether they live in packs or not, whether they have mates, whether they’re blood-thirsty or have their nature under control.. I don’t even want to know how many alpha werewolf-related stories I used to read on Wattpad all those years ago!

Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air, #1)A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2)

I can’t not mention fairies, right! There are so many fae-books I read in the past, but they really don’t top the ones I read in the last two years. Sarah J. Maas and Holly Black have definitely conquered my fae-loving heart on that front! I know I still have some other books on my TBR and I’m secretly hoping those authors – Kiersten White, Margaret Rogerson and Carrie Jones among others – will surprise me in the best way possible.

Daughter of the Siren Queen (Daughter of the Pirate King, #2)To Kill a Kingdom

I really haven’t read a lot of books with sirens or mermaids, but I do know that I love those creatures! If not because they’re so mysterious, it’ll be because they’re dark – or at least very able to be. I know I have a couple of other books with sirens / mermaids on my TBR – and I can’t wait to read them – but for now, Daughter of the Siren Queen and To Kill a Kingdom are definitely my favorites!

What ‘s your favorite magical creature?
What’s your favorite book with that creature featured?

    1. Oh, dragons! Yes! Although it’s been a while since I read a good dragon-related book. The last one was Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows and I didn’t really enjoy that one.. I should totally pick up The Last Namsara soon, since.. I think that one has dragons? If I remember correctly. Hahah.

    1. Oh, I tried reading her Finishing School series but those weren’t really my cup of tea. I gave up after the second installment. Not too sure about picking up any of her other work, hm. :/
Awesome! Hope you love the sequels as well! 😀 I’m really no exception on this but ACOMAF is definitely my favorite, haha.
      I haven’t but I do own a copy! Eventually!

  1. Ooh I love this post! I’m a big fan of werewolves and faerie creatures, so I was glad to see those. And I like a good siren or mercreature story too!

    1. Hah, that’s definitely true. Sometimes it’s like trying to find that one special flower in a field filled to the brim with ordinary ones. I do think it’s a pity there aren’t any new releases with vampires and werewolves though. The focus is very much on fae in fantasy lately.
