THE LAST READING UPDATE OF 2018, YIKES – WWW: December 26th

WWW Wednesday

Okay. This is the second post of today but.. let’s just say my blog is as all over the place as my life is right now. My life is so all over the place, I didn’t even notice the “first” post going up.. because it hadn’t..
With the move, I feel like I’m constantly trying to catch up on things and this is simply one other thing on the list. Anyway. I’m not rushing – at all – but I did want to get this post out! Especially since it’s the last WWW Wednesday of 2018 and I could NOT skip it! That simply wouldn’t feel right, okay?
You know what does feel right? I moved, people. I actually MOVED. We’re officially living in the house where our little wiggle is going to grow up. Where we’ll be working on living the rest of our lives. Where we’ll make so, so many memories and it.. feels kind of daunting and amazing at the same time? It’s like a clean slate without actually wanting to have a clean slate but still enjoying the cleanliness of it?
That sentence does not make any sense – let’s ignore it.

Anyway. Enough of the weirdness! Let’s focus on something that’s still the same in my life.

My weekly reading update! Albeit a day late, but whatever!

As always, covers link back to the Goodreads-page, so feel free to check them out!

Current read

The Gilded Wolves (The Gilded Wolves, #1)The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life

I started The Gilded Wolves, even though that isn’t a short read – and thus doesn’t count towards the Short-a-thon – but I was so in the mood for some fantasy and couldn’t resist! The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck does count towards the Short-a-thon though! I do think it’ll take me a while to get through since it’s non-fiction and.. actually quite confronting? Which I didn’t expect?

Finished reading

Nevernight (The Nevernight Chronicle, #1)A Holiday by GaslightThe Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things
Macbeth Girl Hearts GirlLove Is Not Lost (Faith, #1)Jenna & Jonah's Fauxmance

I finished a whole lot of short reads, yay me! Except for Nevernight – which I loved, don’t you worry – all books count towards the Short-a-thon! Which makes me so proud, haha! Definitely ticking off a lot of books these last weeks of 2018.

Reading next

I actually don’t know yet? I have some options, but I’m simply going to see where my mood takes me. It’s been a stressful time with the move and everything, so.. I’m going to go with whatever I feel like reading once The Gilded Wolves is finished.

ARC overview

Imber (Thanatos Trilogy #1)A Pack of Blood and LiesAll the Lonely PeopleLovestruckAnd We Call It Love

  1. You moved, you moved, I’m so happy you’re in your new home!! I got all sentimental reading your thoughts on the new place. It’s so wonderful that you’re now in the place where your little baby is going to grow up. 😀

You’re still getting so much reading done too! I wonder what you think of the ending in The Gilded Wolves– Mandy wasn’t loving it.

    1. Yessss! We haven’t quite settled in yet, what with all our furniture still in pieces in the garage until the electricity is redone but.. It already feels like home and that’s amazing? We don’t need half our furniture to feel at home? HOW EVEN. [Okay, I’m missing my books but still, haha.]

It went RIGHT down the drain after that post though. I didn’t read a thing until the Wednesday after. :’) Still haven’t finished The Gilded Wolves but I like it so far? WHAT’S WRONG WITH THE ENDING. ohlord. I don’t even know if there’ll be a sequel. Please tell me it doesn’t end too easy or with a mean cliffhanger? [okay no don’t tell me xD]

    2. aHHHH I’m so happy to hear! Who needs furniture when you have a house to call your own!!! (but the books, okay, gotta bring in the books).

Oh noooo. Well, I won’t *say* what’s apparently wrong with the ending because that would be a spoiler and also you might totally disagree! I think there’s a sequel? Are you enjoying so far? *my lips are fully sealed!!*

    3. Now everything’s wrapped in plastic for the electricity to be redone so.. UGH.

If the ending means the last couple of sentences where there’s a “huge” reveal that’s WAY TOO FREAKING PREDICTABLE then I don’t like it. At all. I saw it coming a mile off, was hoping for that particular thing not to happen / be true and then.. it.. is..
And if it’s something else then.. I don’t know, haha. :’)

    4. Apart from it being over 50 years old and.. not quite “legal” anymore? Absolutely nothing, haha! It worked fine, but when buying / selling a house, the electricity needs to be inspected and since it’s so old.. it isn’t up to date to present-day standards so yeah. [And, anyway, I’m pretty sure that should we turn on both our computers the whole thing would just fail xD]

It’s going up.. tomorrroooow! If I remember correctly. :’)

    5. Exactly! We accidentally had our entire house down electricity-wise this weekend when we were cooking and using the fryer at the same time. Sooooo.. It’s not even “just” the computers at this point. xD But we’re getting closer to everything being done! 😀

    6. It is! We stayed with family for five days but we’re back at home since yesterday and everything wooorks. Some last touch-ups still need to happen and the upstairs doesn’t have electricity yet – but we only go there for the bathroom at this point – so all is good!

  2. YAY congratulations on the move, Kathy, I’m so happy for you ❤
I'm glad you're reading The Gilded Wolves, will be looking forward to your thoughts on that one, I really loved it 😀 ❤

  3. Yay for the move! ❤

My colleague recommended to me the subtle art of not giving a fuck book, but i haven't bought it yet. I'm curious to see what you think of it, if you decide to do a review 🙂

  4. Congrats on the move! My Shortathon is going great, love it!

With getting organised for Christmas and then actual Christmas, my reading has been all over the place! Just been grabbing time where I can so I don’t feel settled and out of whack….time tonget back to normality!

  5. I have finished 4 books for the shortathon and honestly that’s probably all I’m going to be able to finish. I have two books that I started before the shortathon that I would like to finish before the end of the year so I am going to be focusing on them.

    1. Four books is still an amazing job though!
Totally get that. I was in the mood for fantasy and didn’t have a fantasy to my liking on my shortathon TBR so picked up a non-short read instead. 🙂 We’re bookworms; we’re bound to do as we please, haha.

  6. Yaaaaay for moving and look at you go with all that reading! I’m so glad you loved Nevernight haha. And don’t feel bad about having a non-Shortathon read, because 2 of my 3 current reads don’t fit the bill, either. 😛 One of them is Unwind and it’s my “unhaul challenge” for the month, but considering I’m only 50 pages in and the fact that if I don’t read the other 285 pages in 4 days means I have to unhaul it isn’t concerning me AT ALL, that’s probably pretty telling that I should DNF it, eh? *slowly talks self into DNFing*

(I hope that last sentence made any sense, grammar is weird and my brain is tired today)

    1. Hahaha. Pretty sure we both knew we’d never be able to stick solely to short reads during the shortathon anyway. 😛
And yup, DNF the thing! Sounds like it’s bound to happen anyway, so why invest more time in the book?!
[It makes sense – no clue whether that’s because my brain’s equally mushy or because I’m awesome like that. I’m going with both.]

    2. True. 😂 I may have had big aspirations, but deep down, I had a feeling they weren’t going to pan out exactly like that.

YUP. I ended up trying to pick it back up last night and couldn’t get into it so I DNFed it and threw it in the unhaul pile! It felt pretty good to do that, honestly. :’)
