TTT: My MOST ANTICIPATED 2019 books!

Top Ten Tuesday

We all know the drill at the end of the year and / or at the start of the new one – drooling over all the releases that’ll be coming our way! New releases, new series, sequels we’ve been waiting on for ages.. Not that it’s any different from what we do on a daily basis, but.. you know..
It’s that little bit more special when it’s a new year, right?

I succeeded at not doing that though! I only checked the books I already had shelved as 2019-releases because I know those are the ones I’m most excited about anyway. Confession? I probably won’t even check huge lists of upcoming releases since I won’t be able to get even a quarter of the ones I want anyway. Why torture myself unnecessarily, right? Besides. I have you, and the blogs I follow, to convince me throughout the year when it comes to the books I don’t know about yet!

TTT general

Today’s topic is, obviously, “Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2019” and.. I’m ignoring the “first half”-part because I can.

All covers link back to Goodreads if you feel like checking them out!

The Fever King (Feverwake, #1)You Asked for PerfectThe Girl KingIn Another Life

I’m starting with two new-to-me authors, Victoria Lee and Laura Silverman. These two books jumped out to me because of the synopsis and the LGBTQIA+-tags they got on Goodreads and by some bloggers I follow. That combination made me add them to the TBR immediately!
The Girl King and In Another Life are books I both read an eARC of and absolutely loved! My review on The Girl King actually went online last week, so you can check that one out here! As for C.C. Hunter’s new book? I’ve loved her previous ones, so she’s become an auto-buy author for me. She tends to tackle subjects that aren’t commonly talked about – like organ donation in This Heart of Mine and adoption in In Another Life.

The Red Scrolls of Magic (The Eldest Curses, #1)On the Come UpA Curse So Dark and Lonely (A Curse So Dark and Lonely #1)Call It What You Want
The Starless SeaWarrior of the WildGoing Off-ScriptAurora Rising (The Aurora Cycle, #1)

These eight books are all books by authors I’ve read work of before and – obviously – loved! I feel like I’ve been waiting for ages already, especially when it comes to On the Come Up and A Curse So Dark and Lonely. Without a doubt two of my most anticipated releases this year!
Of course, there has to be at least one Kristoff-novel on here, and I decided to go with Aurora Rising for multiple reasons. First, I haven’t read Godsgrave yet, so putting Darkdawn on here wouldn’t feel fair. Second, I’m really curious to see what Aurora Rising
will be like? I’m secretly hoping for more Illuminae-lay-out but who knows, right. The one thing I do know is that this duo will be surprising us again! That’s for sure!

What are some of your most anticipated books of 2019?
Any sequels you’d kill to get your hands on? Debuts you already have your eye on?
Which one of my list would you grab immediately should you see it somewhere?

Feel free to leave a link to your TTT so I can check it out!

    1. Oh, I just looked up Spectacle. It’s kind of funny how there are so many France-related books popping up all of a sudden!
I’m not usually big on murder mysteries, but it does sound intriguing. 🙂

    1. The school pressure and perfectionism was really well done. I loved that part. It was scary how realistic it was. But the romance was *such* insta-love and the ending of the book was a kind of cop out? Like it didn’t match what you would expect from everything you knew about the main character AND sent a poor message about friendship, imho.

    2. I can handle insta-love, but.. if it’s as over the top as you’re making it sound, it would probably annoy me as well. Darnnn. I also hate when characters do things that don’t fit everything else we know about them so far so there’s that.. Maaaybe I have to kick it off the TBR then. [And I got denied for the ARC anyway so eh.]

    3. I was really excited for it too (hence the ARC requesting.) It does save you from an extra TBR!… although I don’t love telling people *not* to read things. It wasn’t problematic, which is the only type of book I would actively be like, “NO, DO NOT read” but if you’re aiming to keep the TBR down, I wouldn’t seek this one out. If you have a chance at a free copy though (library or a friend), go for it.

    4. Ha, same. You can only give your opinion and see what people do with it, but I’m not a fan of telling people what not to read either. I’d rather be pushing amazing books in their faces because YOU NEED TO READ THIS, haha.
      Noted!

  1. The Ruin of Kings, which is rare because I have so many books to read that I rarely get around to the books of this year. So I’ve stopped looking lol

  2. My top 3 anticipated debuts are Wicked Saints, Bloodleaf, and The Storm Crow.
I’m also excited for Warrior of the Wild!
Oooh, I just looked up The Starless Sea and added it to my TBR!

I know we all say this every year, but how are there so many exciting releases coming out this year?!?!? I’m particularly excited for all these YA fantasy books I keep hearing about!!

Here’s my TTT post if ya wanna check it out:

    1. Ooh, there was an ARC of The Storm Crow in one of the sub boxes I get! No clue when I’ll get to it yet though, haha.
Yaay! Mission accomplished when you get someone to add to their TBR. 😀

Right?! And the best [or worst, depending on how you look at it] thing is that this isn’t even a small part of all the amazing new releases coming our way since we don’t even know about most yet!

    2. Wow, that’s so awesome! (I’m jealous, lol) I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts on it when you get around to it.

And for the best I think (except for maybe my wallet). So true! Ahhh, my TBR and book collection is going to grow so much this year 😅

    3. I have no clue when yet but I’m hoping to love it. Sounds amazing in any case!

Haha, right? I have a list with upcoming releases I’m keeping an eye on, but I’m also going over it once in a while to delete those that suddenly sound less interesting. I’m HOPING to stay on top of my book buying a bit that way.. hoping.. xD

    4. That sounds like a smart idea! You got this! 😉
Yeah, I definitely need to make sure I only preorder the books I’m super excited about.

  3. AH KATHY! Laura Silverman is new to you, I can’t believe it YOU HAVE to read Girl Out Of Water when you can. It is one of my favorite books of all times and I can’t wait to read You Asked For Perfect 🙂 Also excited about The Fever King, everyone has been raving about that one 😀
AND YES to Going Off-Script, can’t wait for more Jen Wilde 😀
    Love your list ❤

  4. The Girl King and Aurora Rising caught my eye here. And I think I’ll be adding them in my TBR 😋 I find myself trusting your taste Kathy (what with your delicious munches and all)..

    1. I really enjoyed The Girl King! Hope you will too! I’m so curious about Aurora Rising myself, haha. I can only imagine what that duo will come up with this time.
Agh, munches. It’s been a while since I had any munches on here, isn’t it? 😦 I should do something about that..

    1. RIGHT? There are so many huge authors coming with MULTIPLE books. I don’t even know where to start to be honest.. Maybe I should start with figuring out a way to actually have “permission” to buy those books once they’re released.. :’)

  5. I totally agree. I can never be organised to look at book catalogues and rely on netgalley and other book bloggers to point me in the right direction.

  6. ON THE COME UP is on my list, too. One good thing about doing this activity, now I am really excited about a few upcoming books. Since I usually don’t pay attention to releases this is a new position for me. Hope you get to read a few of your anticipated books. My Anticipated Releases

    1. Ha, that’s true! Although I tend to keep an eye on my favorite authors anyway, so there’s always something to be excited about. Listing them makes the anticipation bigger though. 🙂
      Thank you!

    1. Right? It’s why I stuck with the releases I remember without doing too much research, haha. I don’t even want to know what hole I would’ve lost myself in otherwise.
Ooh, so jealous you got to read it already! Can’t wait to get my hands on my copy.
