Well.. Yesterday I had my first day back at work since September and.. it went amazingly well? I didn’t lay awake the night before, overthinking things and.. that alone made me realize even more how ready I am to get back at it. The day itself went fluently too – of course, having some amazing colleagues really helps.
But.. all in all, I’m simply happy with what I’ve accomplished these last few months. Even reading-wise!
As the title of my post said, I even listened to an audiobook. Kind of a big thing since I failed at those. I always felt like I got distracted and missed half the story – which is why I only listened to books I’d already read but.. it was different this time!
As always, covers link back to the Goodreads-page, so feel free to check them out!
I’m currently reading.. one ARC by Josie Silver – who also wrote One Day in December, which I loved! Then I finally decided to pick up The Queen of Nothing although I’m convinced Holly will break me. Aaand because I feel like I’m maybe getting into an audiobook-groove, I also started listening to To Be Honest! Three different reads, but I’m liking all of them so far.Talk about two very different books! I’m currently reading an eARC of
I finished the two books I was already reading last week! Both were fun reads, although Foul is Fair definitely is my favorite of the two. It packed a huge punch – a brutal one too. My review will be coming your way the moment I find the right words to describe my feelings! Same for Monstrous Devices! And.. well.. that audiobook I was talking about? Tweet Cute! Several bloggers have been raving about how cute the story is and.. when I saw it on Scribd, I couldn’t help giving it a shot. Surprise, surprise! I actually listened to the story instead of getting distracted by other things or my own thoughts! Review to come on that one as well!
I still need to read a lot of ARC’s, so I’ll be focusing on the ones that I should.. have read already if I had tried to stay on top of my ARC game? Which are these! They all release this month so.. yeah..
You have quite a few ARCs that I want to hear people’s thoughts on before I pick them up, so I’m looking forward to your reviews in the future. Also, super glad that you enjoyed Tweet Cute. That was just a cute and fun read. Oh, and yay for feeling good about returning to work. I’m glad things are going well, and I hope that they continue to be good for you.

Ooh, no pressure! Haha.
Exactly! I feel like cute, fluffy reads are my go-to when it comes to audiobooks. I’ve tried listening to Caraval [which is actually a reread], but I’m.. not really feeling it? I’m going to give it another chapter though. I really hope to be able to read fantasy by listening to it someday.
Thanks! I loved being back at work, but I do notice how I’m way more tired now. I’ll get used to it, I’m sure.

Yeah, just give yourself, mind and body, a little time to adjust to the reality of work responsibilities again. I know every time I change positions at work, or go on vacation for a few days, I feel so tired and sore when I get back to work. I’m sure it’s even worse when you’ve been gone for months instead of days. You’ll get there. It’ll just take time.

Exactly. I’m lucky to have pretty understanding colleagues who also say the same thing. They think me insane doing certain tasks already while having been absent for so long but.. like.. it’s my job; it makes sense for me to dive into those tasks so I can get the hang of them asap, y’know? In any case, I’m definitely taking my time to get back into the swing of things! 🙂

I can only listen to certain types of audio book I have found. Autobiographies or other non-fiction audio books narrated by the author are my go-to genre on audio. Though I am listening to How To Train Your Dragon at the moment – the fact that it is narrated by David Tennant definitely helps me pay attention – that man has a boooooootiful voice!

Congrats on getting back to work! It’s hard to find your groove again sometimes, but I’m happy it all went so smoothly.
Audiobooks took me a bit of trial and error before I got the hang of them. You need the right kind of story and the right narrator. Otherwise, your mind wanders and you miss it all! Good luck getting through your ARCs, too, I know I have more than a few to get done myself.

Thank you! I worked for two days this week and they went well. But I do feel it’ll take some getting used to again. Especially since I’m in charge of Jamie at night so it’s not like I get the best sleep possible. 😛
Exactly! I’m now listening to my second audiobook and I’m enjoying it. Although somehow I ended up picking a book with the same female narrator as in Tweet Cute so it’s a bit confusing sometimes, haha. I’m still in the middle of The Two Lives of Lydia Bird. I’m not picking up another ARC until I finish that one since it was due last month or something – oops.

I bet! I was off for two weeks at the beginning of January and that was hard enough to get used to again. You’ll get there though!
Wonderful! Oh no, I can see how that might be confusing though! Oops is right, but you’ll get it read. I hope you enjoy them all. 🙂
