I don't usually watch movies before having read the book, but this one was different. Trying to resist a cozy, fluffy movie-mood is a hard thing to do sometimes and with so many people raving about the movie, I succumbed. Then I ended up desperately wanting the books, bought them eventually and was so, so lucky to pull the first one from my January Jam Jar!
Looking back on 2018, I read a whole lot.. But what are the best ten contemporary books I read? Find out here!
I honestly cannot believe I waited this long to read The Upside of Unrequited. It's not like I didn't want to read it, I simply didn't get around to it? Other books kept distracting me and now I'm blaming all those books for keeping me from this precious, little gem. I fell in love, you guys.
I've had this one on my TBR for quite some time now and the reason I got a copy should be fairly clear to anyone knowing me. I'm a sucker for baking - even though it's been a while since I made cupcakes! A book like this? With a baking competition mentioned? Consider me done for!
Contemporary and LGBTQIA+? I could not resist - and I don't think any of you would expect me to either. The synopsis itself intrigued me as well but did this novel gave me everything I hoped for?
My fifth DNF ever since starting my blog - which is over one and a half year ago. I'd say that isn't all that bad but.. it's never fun to put a book on the DNF-shelf, right? Especially since I usually tell myself to read at least 100 pages before deciding to do so. With Oliver and Erica I didn't even make it to that mark. Why? Well, find out here.
At the start of the year, I read Dear Martin by Nic Stone and rated it 4,5 cupcakes so you can say I was quite excited to hear about her new novel. Not to mention there'd be queer characters. I was sold, needed it, requested it and.. by some amazing miracle actually got my hands on an eARC?! And then I finished it and it all came crashing down.
