I have finally done it! After numerous people telling me I should definitely read The Book Thief, I actually decided to listen and pick it up. I've heard so many good things about it, so to say my expectations were high.. Is probably an understatement? No, not true. I went in expecting nothing because.. me and reading historical fiction? Not that great of a combination..
Contemporary and LGBTQIA+? I could not resist - and I don't think any of you would expect me to either. The synopsis itself intrigued me as well but did this novel gave me everything I hoped for?
My fifth DNF ever since starting my blog - which is over one and a half year ago. I'd say that isn't all that bad but.. it's never fun to put a book on the DNF-shelf, right? Especially since I usually tell myself to read at least 100 pages before deciding to do so. With Oliver and Erica I didn't even make it to that mark. Why? Well, find out here.
I took a while to read this trilogy, but I'm honestly.. happy to say I've both started and finished all three books in a little over a month's time! I've had these for quite some time now and, because I'm very interested in Kiersten White's The Conqueror's Saga, decided to finally give them a shot! But did I like them? Or do I wish I hadn't read them at all?
I love myself a good story with royalty so.. you could say my interest was piqued from the get-go with this one. A girl, living for freedom, who suddenly has to give up everything in order to become the future queen? Yes, please! Give me that!
Sometimes I feel like reading a book that isn't in any of my regular genres, which is exactly what happened when I picked up this one. I do like the occasional thriller or mystery novel, so when I started craving a book like that.. My eyes immediately wandered to S.T.A.G.S by M.A. Bennett. So, here we are! Time to review!
The thing that got me to pick up this book is very simple. Empress of All Seasons is an Asian-inspired young adult fantasy, written by an Asian author. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Did I have some issues? Yes.
